Automation at StackaStage

It has been a 2 year project, but eventually we succeeded in getting a robot to help us finish StackaStage to the high standards that we and our customers expect! The robot racks and sprays StackaStage decks. It has been a steep (and expensive!) learning curve. We originally bought the robot just to do the spraying, however it quickly became apparent that it could also handle the stage components, taking them from a drying rack turning them over, spraying them and returning them to the drying rack. This extra complexity mean’t that we had to design and produce a gripper system that wouldn’t get in the way when the robot was spraying and which could pick up components when they had a coat of wet lacquer on them.
